Plasma HDTV

Plasma televisions are based on a new technology that utilizes a unique display panel that alleviates the need for a cathode-ray picture tube. One of the major benefits of buying these televisions is that they are sized to accommodate new HDTV 16:9 aspect ratios and have a similar pixel resolution to a personal computer monitor. This provides the product the maximum picture clarity. In other words, a plasma display has an emissive flat panel display in which light is created by phosphors that are excited by a plasma discharge between two flat panels of glass. The gas discharge contains no mercury, but instead has a mixture of noble gases.

One of the basic things that the plasma screen does is illuminate the tiny colored fluorescent lights to form an image. Three fluorescent lights are red, green and blue, and constitute each pixel.

Plasma is stated to be the "Fourth State of Matter", after solid, liquid and gas. It is considered a distinct state of matter that contains a significant number of electrically charged particles. The number is sufficient to affect its electrical properties and behavior.

Plasmas constitute more than 99 percent of the visible universe.

Although the prices of plasma televisions have come down recently, trade analysts predict that the prices will continue to fall just as the prices of any other electronic item. With small companies creeping into the market, competition has now become stiff. Chinese manufacturers are producing these televisions at the cheapest rate, thus taking competition to another level. Akai, Hitachi, LG, Philips, Sony and Samsung are some of the big manufacturing companies producing plasma televisions for global markets. Panasonic and Pioneer are the best-known in the industry and run neck-to-neck in reviews and manufacturing.

Televisions

One of the best inventions in the world of digital media, television is a telecommunicating system that transmits images, accompanied with sounds and special effects, over a long distance. The word television is derived from two words ? tele (which means "far" in Greek) and visio (which means "vision" or "sight" in Latin).

Paul Gottlieb Nipkow, a German student, proposed the first electromechanical television system in 1885. The discovery of cathode ray tubes in 1897, by K. F. Braun was a major landmark.

Later in 1927, Philo Taylor Farnsworth envisioned the first fully electronic system. He conducted the world's premier public demonstration of an all-electronic television system on August 25, 1934, at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

Besides Farnsworth, Vladimir Kosma Zworykin is also sometimes called the Father of the television because of his invention of iconoscope in 1923 and kinescope in 1929. On July 3, 1928, John Logie Baird demonstrated...

Business Promotional Items - How to Stimulate Word of Mouth Advertising

If the promotional items you give out end up in the attic or shoved in the back of a desk drawer, they are probably not doing what they are supposed to be doing.
However, if items you passed out to clients and customers are being seen again and again, chances are, word-of-mouth advertising is stimulating your business.

With media (radio, televisions and newspaper), messages can come and go.
But, the exposure promotional items can give equals longevity.
While there is no real scientific way to measure how many impressions an item can receive in its lifetime, we know that it works and ultimately gets well over its money's worth.

I used to work at a radio station that passed out license plates.
We had a very fun logo- and still after ten years of being on the air, they are a sought out item.
We began to limit the number that were handed out at live action broadcasts, and that drew people to event after event....

LCD Televisions

LCD televisions are flat panel televisions that utilize LCD technology, which is already commonly been used in cell phones, calculators, and computer monitors. LCD televisions' display screen has two parallel polarizing panels and a liquid crystal sandwiched between them. Based on the amount of voltage passed through the panels, the rod-shaped liquid crystal molecules will be untwisted to different degrees, limiting the entry of light. Thus, the crystalline layer acts a shutter that either allows or blocks the passage of light. As a result, dark and light patterns are formed on the display, which produces a magnificent picture.

A white backlighting is required in LCD televisions since the LCD pixels do not emit light as in Plasma televisions.

In this, each color pixel is generated by three sub-pixels with red, blue, and green color filters. Unlike plasma and CRT ones, LCD televisions do not have a phosphor dot coating. Hence, they are thin and require much less power...

Humans and the Universe

There are nine well-recognized planets in our Solar System. The Sun, the center of our Solar System is just one star among hundreds of billions of stars in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Milky Way is also just one of hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe. If you will compute how many possible planets are there in the universe, it would be unbelievably enormous. Through this tremendous fact in our universe, scientists and astronomers believe that there may be huge probability of living creatures' existence aside from earthlings.

This probability is as huge as the numbers of existing planets in the universe. Imagine a great number of islands in our planet, the higher the number of islands the greater the possibility of inhabitant discovery. Scientists believe on the existence of aliens, inhabitants of other planets. There would be also a possibility of existence of Earth-like planet in the universe. A simple theory is the existence of twins and identical people living in our...

Treasure Map Your Success for 2005

Treasure-mapping is the process of visualizing on paper exactly what you want. The clearer you can see your desired future as a reality, the sooner it can manifest. The actual process is simple: look for color pictures in magazines or catalogs and use rubber cement to glue them to a half sheet of poster board. Each new year, my husband and I "treasure map" what we want in our lives for the year. Whenever we anticipate a major change, such as moving to a new city, buying a house, or changing...
